Academic Standing

CCTCMA is committed to maintaining high standards and encouraging your academic success. Academic standing applies to all programs at CCTCMA and relates to the student’s eligibility to register in courses of all Programs at CCTCMA.

If you are experiencing academic difficulty, you are encouraged to meet with your academic advisor as soon as possible. The sooner you get assistance, the easier it will be for you to get help.

Students who do not meet minimum academic performance requirements (60 percent overall average) will be placed on Academic Probation. Notice of Academic Probation will be placed on a student’s Statement of Standing but not on a student’s transcript.

Students will be notified that they have been placed on Academic Probation by an official Statement of Standing sent to the mailing address on the student’s record.

The academic record of students placed on Academic Probation will be re-evaluated at the end of the next semester.

Students must attain a minimum 60 percent overall average on total courses attempted while on academic probation to be allowed to continue.

Academic Standings are the follows:

1. Good Standing: 60 percent overall average or better.
2. Academic Warning: Students whose overall average is below 60% will be placed on Academic Warning. Students are only eligible to remain on Academic Warning for a total of two semesters.
3. Academic Probation: Students who have remained on Academic Warning for two semesters and whose overall average is below 60% will be placed on Academic Probation. Students are only eligible to remain on Academic Probation for one semester.
4. Required to Withdraw: Students who have remained on Academic Probation for one semester and whose overall average is below 60% will be required to withdraw from CCTCMA for a period of twelve months.

The Requirements to Withdraw Appeal

Students can appeal their Requirement to Withdraw by completing the appropriate form available at the Office of the President. The appeal must include supporting documentation in order to be processed.

The only permissible ground for appealing a Requirement to Withdraw will be as follows:

1. Medical reasons verified in writing by a physician. Documentation must establish a clear and substantive link to the student’s academic standing over the period of time the credits were earned; or
2. Severe emotional distress verified in writing by a certified mental health professional. Documentation must establish a clear and substantive link to the student’s academic standing over the period of time the credits were earned.
