Admission Requirement for Acupuncture Diploma Program and Doctor of TCM Diploma Program

CCTCMA accepts applications of Acupuncture Diploma Program and Doctor of TCM Diploma Program from students who meet all of the following criteria:

• A sincere interest in TCM or acupuncture,
• At least eighteen (18) years old,
• Have completed high school education in Alberta or equivalent, with a 60% average or better in Grade 12 English, Grade 12 Math and Grade 12 Science,
• Out of high school for at least two years OR successful completion of one year of post-secondary education verified by transcript,
• For applicants whose first language is not English, proof of a successful result in either the TOFEL 560/220 OR IELTS 5.0 exams are required,
• A successful interview by the college

Admission Requirement for 2200 Hour Massage Diploma Program

》Standard Admission:

Students must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be minimal 18 years of age,
2. Alberta high school diploma, verified by official transcript, or non-Alberta equivalent,
3. Successful interview with school administration, at the discretion of the school,
4. Proficiency in speaking and written English, at the discretion of the school. See English Language Proficiency document for details.

》Mature Admission Students Must Meet the Following Criteria:

1. Must be minimal 19 years of age,
2. Successful interview with school administration, at the discretion of the school.
3. Post-Secondary education or other educational experience may be considered for advanced credit at the discretion of the school.
4. Proficiency in speaking and written English, at the discretion of the school. See the English Language Proficiency document for details.

2200 Hour Massage Therapy Program English Language Proficiency

English is the primary language of instruction at the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CCTCMA). All prospective students are required to demonstrate a minimum level of English before they’re admitted.

There are the following ways to meet the CCTCMA’s minimum English Language Admission Standard for 2200 Hour Massage Therapy Diploma Program.

》Ways to Meet This Requirement

1. Complete one or more consecutive years of recognized, full-time education in English within English speaking country prior to attending the CCTCMA, or
2. Achieve the competence standard indicated by one of the tests of English language proficiency below that evaluates skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

If you are fully proficient in English but do not meet the options listed above, you may request a Waiver for English Language Proficiency.

》Waiver Request Process

If you do not meet the CCTCMA’s English Language Admission Standard but believe that you have the English proficiency to successfully finish our 2200 Hour Massage Therapy Diploma Program, you may request to have the requirement waived. Your waiver request must include:

1. A brief letter explaining why you believe the requirement should be waived.
2. An official letter of recommendation from your school’s English teacher, guidance counsellor, principal, or headmaster, which attests that your level of English proficiency is sufficient to successfully complete the 2200 Hour Massage Therapy Diploma Program. The recommendation should be submitted via email and include the writer’s contact information (phone number and email address preferred).
3. An official transcript of grades, including courses in progress and anticipated grades. In order for the transcript to be official, it must be submitted in a sealed school envelope and mailed directly from your school to the CCTCMA.

You may also include any additional evidence demonstrating your English competence, such as achievement test scores.

Please note: We strongly suggest that you try to meet the requirement through one of the specified means, in case your waiver request cannot be granted.
