Course Description
This course covers the fundamental principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine that are imperative for a good understanding of all other courses related to the subject of Traditional Chinese Medicine including the theory of Yin and Yang, the five elements, the theory of the five elements, the Zang – Fu organ system, the vital substances Qi, Blood, Body Fluids Jing, Shen. Also etiology and pathogenesis according to TCM theory and Zang-Fu syndrome differentiation will be explored together with treatment and prevention strategies.
Course Objective
Upon completion of this course, you shall be able to:
- Describe the basic theoretical and philosophical concepts in TCM.
- Identify the relationship between the fundamental principles of TCM and the state of well-being or disorder in the human body.
- Describe the etiology and pathogenesis of disease based on TCM theory.
- Participate in discussions on the use of fundamental concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine in a clinical situation in terms of basic treatment and prevention of disease.
