Course Description
This course covers the basics of Western Pharmacology. Topics will include General Principles of Pharmacology and Pharmaceuticals of the Neurologic, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Gastrointestinal, Urinary, Endocrine, Immune and Musculoskeletal systems. We look at key drugs in each section and examine their use, adverse effects and action.
Course Objective
At the termination of this class students will be able to:
– Understand western pharmacology terminology
– Recognize the key drugs of each class
– Understand the general adverse affects of each class of drug
– Understand the actions of drugs
– Begin to connect the action of drugs with the action of herbs
