During the weekend of Aug 29 and Aug 30, 2015, Professor Kai Cheng ran a very successful advanced acupuncture technique training seminar at the Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CCTCMA). There were more than 20 acupuncturists that attended his valuable training.

During the past 2 days, Professor Kai Cheng introduced the special needling  technique, “San Cai” which was passed down in Professor Cheng’s family by his grandfather, Xinnong Cheng, the top acupuncturist in China. His lecture revealed deeper meanings and new uses of many commonly used acupoints, and he supplied students with some of his previous clinic cases to help them understand the value of this knowledge.

Trainees had the opportunity to experience Professor Cheng’s needling technique through personal demonstrations. Professor Cheng also spent extra time answering the student’s questions, during and after his lecture. The classroom was often filled with cheers and laughs. Professor Chung was very approachable, and after training, many students took the time to talk with him or just simply snap a picture. He continues to share his knowledge with the students via WeChat.

This is the starting point of CCTCMA’s (Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture) pilot project combining Chinese and English language together for the advanced TCM and acupuncture training. Ying Li, one of CCTCMA’s graduated students, provided English translations for Professor Cheng during the seminar. Ying’s professional and fluent translation received Professor Cheng’s appraise, and trainees’ compliments,

Calgary College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture plans to host more advanced TCM and acupuncture training in both English and Chinese for acupuncturists and TCM doctors in the near future.
